Enoch Pratt CEO Joins Heritage Area Board of Directors
Carla Hayden To Serve as Treasurer
The Baltimore National Heritage Area (BNHA) is delighted to announce that Enoch Pratt Free Library Chief Executive Officer Carla Hayden, Ph.D. has joined the heritage area’s board of directors. Hayden will serve as the board’s treasurer.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Hayden on the heritage area board,” said James Piper Bond, chairman of the BNHA board and president and CEO of the Living Classrooms Foundation. “Her experience and insights as the leader of one of the city’s finest institutions is a tremendous asset in our efforts to promote the city’s historic and cultural legacy to both visitors and Baltimore residents.”
Hayden has led the library’s operations since 1993. Prior to coming to Baltimore, she served as the first deputy commissioner and chief librarian of the Chicago Public Library. Hayden is a member of the National Museum and Library Services Board and the American Library Association.
“Our city’s diverse neighborhoods make Baltimore special,” Hayden said. “Enhancing our neighborhoods, sharing the history of our city, and working with historic sites, museums, and institutions to tell their unique stories is a small, but critical step in creating a more livable, healthful Baltimore.”
The heritage area’s board elected Hayden to the treasurer position in March 2015. She replaces former Parks and People Foundation Executive Director Jacqueline Carrera.
The mission of the Baltimore National Heritage Area is to promote, preserve, and enhance Baltimore’s historic and cultural legacy and natural resources for current and future generations.
